Good news like this doesn’t come around often.
AFGRI Equipment, in collaboration with John Deere, has announced a significant price adjustment on selected John Deere tractor models, with savings of up to 14% now available across a range of popular machines.
This marks a rare and historic moment for the South African agricultural sector, driven by favourable global market conditions and a stronger Rand against major international currencies.
A rare opportunity in the market
According to Etienne Meyer, Marketing Manager at AFGRI Equipment, this is not something farmers see every day.
“We have revised pricing on selected equipment, and this is an exceptionally unusual event. The previous pricing adjustment of this nature was several years ago,” he explains.
The adjustment follows a strategic decision by AFGRI Equipment and John Deere to pass on the benefits of improved exchange rates directly to customers. Because most equipment is imported and purchased in US dollars, currency movements play a major role in local pricing.
“With the current favourable rand-dollar exchange rate, we looked at how we could pass that benefit directly to our customers,” says Etienne. “Together with John Deere, we engaged with the factories and committed to larger order volumes, which allowed for improved pricing.”
Real relief for South African farmers
The result is a meaningful reduction in pricing across selected models, offering immediate value and relief to farmers and agricultural businesses nationwide.
The adjustment applies to most of the John Deere range, with a strong focus on the popular 5D and 5E 3-cylinder tractor series.
One of the standout examples is the John Deere 5075E four-wheel drive open station tractor, which has dropped from R399,000 (January pricing) to R341,000 excluding VAT. A significant saving that makes a real difference in today’s operating environment.
“This kind of price movement is rare,” says Etienne. “It makes us proud that in uncertain times, we can still help farmers access world-class equipment at better value.”
Built on partnership and long-term support
Patrick Roux, Managing Director of AFGRI Equipment, says the initiative reflects a deeper commitment to South African agriculture.
“When conditions allow us to create value for our customers, we believe those benefits must flow directly back to the farmer. This pricing revision is about supporting our clients, strengthening partnerships, and helping agriculture in the region continue to grow.”
It’s a sentiment echoed across the organisation.
“AFGRI never stops driving the interests of our customers,” adds Etienne. “If there is an opportunity to give back, we take it.”
Experience it at Nampo or your nearest branch
This special pricing offer is available until end of May 2026, and will also be featured at Nampo Harvest Day in Bothaville, where farmers can view the equipment and learn more about the available pricing.
“Nampo is where everything comes together,” says Etienne. “It’s the ideal opportunity to see a John Deere tractor up close. These machines represent world-class quality, and this price adjustment makes ownership more accessible than ever.”
For those unable to attend Nampo, all participating AFGRI Equipment branches will be able to assist with product availability and pricing details.
When conditions align, value should flow back to the farm. That’s the thinking behind this initiative, and it reflects what AFGRI Equipment stands for: serve, advise, involvement and support for those in South African agriculture.
